3 Year Anniversary of Afghan Refugees

Join Global Shout for a fundraising event commemorating three years since the evacuation of Afghanistan

October 4th, 2024, at DACOR Bacon House in Washington, D.C. from 5:30pm to 8:30pm

Please join our organization Global Shout on October 4th, 2024, at DACOR Bacon House in Washington, D.C. from 5:30pm to 8:30pm as we gather together three years after the events surrounding the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the evacuation of Afghan military and civilians turned refugees. We will be remembering the events of that period and reflecting on the past three years of efforts by our organization and others to welcome our allies to the United States and give them an opportunity at peace and a better life. We will hear from the refugees themselves throughout the night and we will be partnering with DACOR, an organization of foreign affairs professionals, members of the State Department, and officials from USAID, who will also speak regarding the current state of affairs in Afghanistan, and in the United States regarding the plight of the refugees.
This is a fundraiser event meant to support Global Shout in providing continued assistance to the over 8000 refugees we have helped so far over the past three years in home furnishing and move-ins, clothing and food assistance, health care provisioning, English as a second language classes, social services, job training and acquisition, and asylum and legal aide. Afghan hors d’oeuvres will be provided from the renowned DC based Afghan restaurant Lapis, along with a silent auction of Afghan goods, and a viewing of the documentary film trailer produced and directed by Global Shout’s founder Dr. Ali Karim. Ticket purchase is mandatory for attendance and will not be sold at the door. Tickets are available for purchase online at the following link, ”           ” or by scanning the QR code provided below. Seating is limited and we encourage early purchase to ensure your spot. Public parking is available in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood or garage parking and is not included in the ticket price.
We look forward to an amazing night of storytelling, celebration, remembrance, reflection, and hope for the future and another three years of fantastic humanitarian work inspired and motivated by our refugee friends and also you, our wonderful supporters over the years.

About Us

Global Shout is a U.S. based 501(c)3 tax-exempt (EIN#: 85-2382286) non-profit organization originally founded by students at Georgetown University in 2005 as Global S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Orphans in Underprivileged Territories). After an early focus strictly on the education and care of orphaned children in third world nations, the organization underwent a gradual shift in scope of humanitarian work, expanding beyond the university and dropping the acronym, with a full rebranding in 2019-20, now operating projects internationally of varying type and purpose.
