Afghan Refugee Resettlement Project
Assisting Afghan refugees with goods, food, medical care, and basic necessities as they arrive and resettle in the United States after the end of the U.S. war
Global Shout is joining up with other local and international organizations to collect donations of food, goods, and basic necessities for the Afghan refugees arriving from Afghanistan to the Northern Virginia area on a daily basis as thousands are evacuated before the U.S. government’s August 31st exit deadline. We are currently helping the refugees by providing medical care and basic items like baby formula, diapers, food, etc., but their needs will likely change as time and numbers both increase and U.S. government support ceases at the time of resettlement.
Various members of the organization, including our executive director and Afghan American physician Ali Karim, are also seeing refugees as patients in conjunction with the International Organization for Migration and serving as medical professionals on United Airlines international flights to bring the refugees to the United States, to assist them in treatment of acute and chronic conditions that have been exacerbated by their exodus and journey from their homes.
This situation is continually evolving as the needs of the migrants shift from more acute basic requirements to chronic disposition and skills training. We will keep you updated as the situation changes on the ground. Both donations and volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. May God bless the peaceful people of Afghanistan and enact a swift return to normalcy for their embattled country.
