Eid gifts, McDonald's Jobs, and the Final Iftar of Ramadan
Alexandria, Virginia
We had a fantastic time celebrating Eid al Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan with some of the Afghan refugees newly arrived in the Northern Virginia area!
Multiple volunteers came together to hand out Eid gifts of toys and money to the young children present and to lead fun activities for everyone including yoga lessons, face painting, and basketball/tennis. The last iftar dinner of 2022 was provided by Kabul Kabob Express, bringing together the community to complete their first Ramadan in America while making new friends and establishing new connections, keeping in line with our mission to empower the Afghans by broadening their network of support. To top it all off, we were joined by our new partners from McDonald’s and the local team at McD Mateos (@mcdmateos) to provide jobs to numerous Afghans on the spot! They are committed as we are to prevent issues of food and housing insecurity from developing as government benefits for the refugees dwindle. We will continue this partnership going forward with exciting announcements coming soon so please stay tuned. In the meantime, Eid Mubarak and see everyone at the next event!

About Us
Global Shout is a U.S. based 501(c)3 tax-exempt (EIN#: 85-2382286) non-profit organization originally founded by students at Georgetown University in 2005 as Global S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Orphans in Underprivileged Territories). After an early focus strictly on the education and care of orphaned children in third world nations, the organization underwent a gradual shift in scope of humanitarian work, expanding beyond the university and dropping the acronym, with a full rebranding in 2019-20, now operating projects internationally of varying type and purpose.
