George Mason University Talk

Fairfax, Virginia

Ali Karim, Intersection of medicine and philanthropy

Our Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Ali Karim, was invited to George Mason University to give a talk about the intersection of medicine and philanthropy to a group of aspiring female physicians known as the STEMinists. Discussing his three years straight of continuous travel around the world between 2016 and 2019 to create NGO projects for Global Shout focused on medicine, and simultaneously film his documentary series, www.borderlessdocumentary.com, Ali shared a message of humanity for all and a passion for doing the right thing regardless of one’s background or profession. In his words to the students, you don’t have to be a doctor to make a difference. We at Global Shout follow that example, and are committed to performing the same type of outreach to communities far and wide.

About Us

Global Shout is a U.S. based 501(c)3 tax-exempt (EIN#: 85-2382286) non-profit organization originally founded by students at Georgetown University in 2005 as Global S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Orphans in Underprivileged Territories). After an early focus strictly on the education and care of orphaned children in third world nations, the organization underwent a gradual shift in scope of humanitarian work, expanding beyond the university and dropping the acronym, with a full rebranding in 2019-20, now operating projects internationally of varying type and purpose.
