Local High School Students Collect Toiletries For Global Shout

Arlington, Virginia

Talia and Jessica Berger were able to raise over $1,000 worth of toiletry items

Collaborating and fundraising with their classmates and teachers, local high schoolers Talia and Jessica Berger were able to raise over $1,000 worth of toiletry items for our families of Afghan refugees. They were able to gift some of their donations to a family of three, including a mother and her two college age daughters, who had to leave their family behind in the western city of Herat, in hopes of finding a better life and opportunity for education that would not have been allowed under the rule of the Taliban. Living out of a hotel for the past few months has been tough for our families, as money is scarce due to limited funding from the government. But with the help of girls like the Berger sisters, it makes this transition a little bit more pleasant, and gives our families hope of a better future ahead.

About Us

Global Shout is a U.S. based 501(c)3 tax-exempt (EIN#: 85-2382286) non-profit organization originally founded by students at Georgetown University in 2005 as Global S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Orphans in Underprivileged Territories). After an early focus strictly on the education and care of orphaned children in third world nations, the organization underwent a gradual shift in scope of humanitarian work, expanding beyond the university and dropping the acronym, with a full rebranding in 2019-20, now operating projects internationally of varying type and purpose.
